The things we see from our 3rd floor vantage point at Broadcast House. Just before 7 this morning, I spotted this deer treading water in the middle of the South Saskatchewan River. He seemed quite content to just hold his position in the river until some people with the rowing club came close so he swam downstream to VIctoria Park where he climbed out on the west side. A short time later when the boats had moved off, he jumped back in and swam directly across to the east side. This was all happening while we were getting an update from John Polson, the fellow who did a C-section on a dead deer last week and saved its two fawns. They were transported to a wildlife holding area over the weekend where they will gradually be introduced to the wild and released in September.
