Funny thing about this job. I sometimes think I know just about every person in Saskatchewan, and surely to goodness, everyone must know me, the incredible Brent Loucks, humble, hardworking morningman on 650 ( in its many different versions) since 1984. Well, I got busted good this morning...and I havent had such a good laugh in a long time. My producer Erin called out to Asquith to find someone who could explain why the town sign says Asquith is "the center of the British Empire". I ended up speaking to Marg Down, who is one of the organizers of next weekends big Centennial Celebrations in the community. Everything was going fine until Marg asked "and your name again is??". It was a funny, and somewhat humbling experience. My mothers voice can be clearly heard saying, "dont get too big for your britches." Oh, and we never did really figure you out why someone decided to call Asquith "the center of the British Empire", but you have to admire their spirit.
