I have to confess, I thought it was over, when the Russians scored their 5th goal with just over two minutes left. I didn’t turn the tv off, because anything is possible, but it didn’t look good.

Geez…Mike Duffy, Pamela Wallin, broadcasters/journalists (one former) now taking their spot on the gravy train, their place at the trough, their Christmas bonuses more than taken care of for many years now, as they retire to the best job in the land.

"Christmas is ruined!" griped my daughter.

My youngest child has never liked change of any kind. And so she was tremendously unhappy to see the new Christmas tree going up. I had sided with her in the debate to keep the old tree, partly out of sentiment, partly because I didn’t want to start a cold vehicle, drive to the store and pay for a new tree when we had already started putting together the old one.  But alas, the lack of functioning lights seemed to have turned off the family's attitude towards the familiar old tree.

So Canada is officially in recession, according to the Bank of Canada governor.

Expect to hear and read much about this in the coming days and weeks. And if recent history is any indication, don’t expect to hear or read much in the national media about the fact that not all of Canada is in recession.

There is a recession where the national media outlets are located and so, that reality will dominate their editorial view.

There will be no Nativity Scene in Ottawa this year!

The Supreme Court has ruled that there cannot be a Nativity Scene in Canada's capital this Christmas season. It is not for religious reasons.
They simply have been unable to find Three Wise Men in the Nation's capital.

P.S. There was no problem, however, finding enough asses to fill the stable!
